Implicit Role: Asset Library Manager: Full Access to Categories
The “Asset Manager” Role is not explicit because the Role is not directly assigned anywhere in the system. It is implicit because Fieldclix AM Implementation requires identification of an Employee with ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of equipment assets inventory. This person fills an Implementation Role as main point-of-contact throughout the implementation project, and is expected to learn and have access to all parts of the AM Business Solution.
For the purposes of this guide, any user with full access to all parts of AM will be regarded as an “Asset Manager.” Only such system-implied Asset Managers have the access needed to perform all actions described in this guide.
Explicit Role: Asset Category Manager
Each Asset Category card has a Required Requisite which requires an Employee be assigned as the “Category Manager” for that Asset Category. May be different from Asset Library Manager.
In smaller companies, the Asset Manager may also act as Category Manager for all Asset Categories. In larger organizations, different top-level Categories may be assigned different managers.
EXAMPLE Office Equipment may fall under the purview of a top-level administrative employee who manages purchasing of such items. This Employee would be concerned with all equipment used by office employees, but not items used in the field, like Telecom Test Equipment or PPE. The later would be the responsibility of an operations manager.
Receives Condition Change Request Jobs
The main functional purpose of assigning an Asset Category Manager is that, for each Asset Category, if a Mobile user submits a Condition Change Request, a Job gets routed to the Category Manager’s Fieldclix Inbox.
AM-Specific References
Fieldclix Asset Management is concerned with only 2 unique references: “Asset Categories” and “Assets”.
The user group “Asset Managers” grants full access to these references.
As a rule, the Asset Library Manager and the Asset Category are included in this user group.
You can see both Assets and Asset Categories in the Assets Reference if Hierarchy > By Category is turned-on in your view.
