Is FieldCLIX and / or my computer at risk if we import an infected file?

Modified on Tue, Oct 9, 2018 at 10:14 AM

A file imported into FieldCLIX is never actually read by the system. Instead, when the user opens the file, it is downloaded to their local machine and opened by the file "Editor" (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) installed on their local machine.

This means 2 things:

  1. Maleware inside a file cannot infect the FieldCLIX system, even if it is imported into FCX storage.
  2. Maleware inside a file CAN infect your local machine if you do not have adequate protection.

So, just like before you had FieldCLIX, you need maleware protection, like an Antivirus program, installed on your local machine to scan email attachments and other files opened on your computer.

FieldCLIX cannot, itself, get infected by maleware, but it can act as a vector, just like Outlook.
