Manual Lunch Vs. Auto-Deducted Lunch
Manual Lunch records Employee’s Start of Lunch. This is usually configured in states with specific break rules (such as US California).
Auto-Deducted Lunch removes Time Automatically – Take Your Lunch!
In most companies, manual lunch does not apply: It is assumed you have taken your allowed lunch time. You are given this time for your benefit: Take advantage of it.
Manual Lunch Requirement and Required Duration Vary by Company
If manual lunch is allowed at your company and for you, a default Lunch settings are set according to your company policies.
Lunch settings are specified for an Employee category or individually for each Employee in Time Keeping Configuration.
These settings include:
- Default Lunch duration. This length is typically 30 or 60 minutes, but can be different.
- Allow shorter Lunch duration.
- Allow to waive lunch.
Allow Adding Manual Lunches from the App
Assign a role to an employee so they can manually log lunch in the mobile app.
Open the Employee card → go to the Roles tab → add the “Mobile. Manual Lunch Allowed” role → Save.
The role is now multifunctional. It allows an employee to:
- Record lunch in the app.
- Edit lunches during the workshift (the period of time between clock in and clock out).
- Delete lunches recorded during the workshift.
TK Employee configuration — Lunch settings
Open the employee's TK Configuration card and switch to the Lunch tab to configure manual lunch, “Lunch Coming” push notifications in the mobile app.
Default Duration, Mins — enter here the default lunch duration. This is the minimum lunch period an employee can select in the mobile app.
Allow shorter duration — allow an employee to add a lunch period shorter than the default value.
Note that you can only select this checkbox if the default duration is specified.
Allow Waive Lunch — activate this setting to allow an Employee to waive lunch during the day. Comments are required. There are no restrictions of how many times the Employee can waive Lunch.
When the Employee clicks on the Waive Lunch button in the mobile app, the system creates a Lunch Time Entry with 0 hours. We store the Lunch comments provided by the Employee in the Lunch TE.
The Waived lunch is displayed with a flag on the GPS timeline of the Time Card.
In the mobile app, we show all the information about lunches taken during the workshift: total lunch hours for the day, lunch periods, when the current lunch will end, and so on.
